Prono
Ringling College of Art + Design | 2019 | Type Design, Animation
Prono is an animated typeface designed for and attention-grabbing headlines. It is fully customizable and scalable, available in 3 different variations. Prono won Best Type in Motion at the 2020 Ringling College Ligature Show (juror: Ken Barber) and a Silver award in the Animation category at the 2020 American Advertising Awards.
PROCESS
EXPLORATION
I began this project by exploring various typographical inspirations and developed two strong concepts.
Concept 01
A geometric typeface inspired by 20th-century display fonts, characterized by precise geometry and exaggerated forms.
Concept 02
A geometric typeface inspired by inscriptions from various urban environments, featuring an industrial, brutalist aesthetic that lends itself well to stencil use.

1st DESIGN PASS
I decided to combine the two concepts above for a more unique approach, aiming to create a geometric, stencil typeface. This led me to develop a few different options.
