Abstracting Nature

Ringling College of Art+Design | 2018 | Illustration

Inspired by the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, Florida, this project creates a visual journey through the gardens by abstracting natural forms into shapes based on set rules. It includes the abstraction of a plant, flower, animal, and man-made object, and explores unconventional composition sizes.

THE FUNDAMENTAL UNIT

The project centers on the shape created by two overlapping circles and a line pattern. These shapes allow me to simplify the objects found in the Selby Gardens to their most basic forms, providing a cohesive visual language throughout the work.
